Requirements For Nigeria Police Recruitment 2024

All these will be required during the application for recruitment into the Nigerian Police Force.

General/Minimum Requirements

1. Applicants are expected to be citizens of Nigeria by birth

2. Possess the National Identification Number (NIN)

3. Applicants must have at least a minimum of five credits in not more than two sittings in WAEC/NECO or its equivalent with credit passes in English and Mathematics.

Physical Requirement

1. All Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 25 for general duty, and between 18 and 28 years of age for specialists.

2. All male applicants must not be less than 1.67 metres, and females 1.64 metres tall in height

3. A minimum of 86cm (34 inches) chest measurement for men only

4. All applicants must be physically able, physically disabled persons must not apply

5. Applicants must be physically, mentally, and medically fit

6. Applicants must not have any of the following abnormalities: Amputation of any part of the body, Bent knees, Body scars, Bowlegs, Defective eyesight or squint eyes, Deformed hand, flat feet, Gross malformation of teeth, Knock knees, Protruding Navel, Speech impediment, Tattoos.

7. Must not be pregnant at the time of recruitment

Character Requirement

1. All applicants must be of good moral character and have not been convicted of any crime;

2. Must not have been involved in any criminal activities in the past.

3. Applicants must not have defaulted or have any financial shame or pecuniary embarrassment

Educational Requirement

1. Applicants should be able to express themselves verbally and otherwise

2. Applicant must have a minimum of (5) credits in either WAEC/GCE/NEC or NABTEB including English Language and Mathematics in not more than (2) exam sittings.

Medical Requirement

1. Applicant must have a medical report from the hospital;

2. Must be physically, mentally, and medically fit.

All these listed above are generally required from anyone who is interested in applying for the Nigerian Police Recruitment for this year. Aside from these general requirements, there are other additional requirements too, some of which are optional and also an added advantage to applicants who have them.

Additional Requirements

1. Possession of a valid National Driver’s License will be an added advantage

2. A birth certificate or age declaration is needed (will be scanned and soft copy attached)

3. LGA Identification (needed)

4. A certificate of state of origin is needed also (will be scanned and soft copy attached)

5. Educational Certificates, including First School Leaving Certificate (scanned soft copy needed)

6. Passport photograph (scanned soft copy of passport photograph will be attached too)

7. NYSC Discharge or Exemption Certificate (optional as added advantage)

8. Professional Certificates (optional as an added advantage)

9. Degrees (optional as an added advantage)

Basic Information

1. All applicants must download, fill out the guarantor’s form, and submit it at the recruitment and screening centre

2. All applicants must undergo a full medical examination before selection

3. Must provide two (2) verified guarantors or references from one of the following categories: traditional rulers, magistrates, local government chairman, heads of attended educational institutions, career civil servants not below grade level 12, police officers not below CSP, or military officers not below lieutenant colonel.

4. Functional email address (please note that during the recruitment process applicants will be contacted via email for any official updates).

How To Apply for Nigerian Police Recruitment 2024/2025

The Police Recruitment Portal on How To Apply consists of two (2) Sections, section A is where you input your basic details like; NIN, Email Address, Phone Number, and job Title. Section B is for filling out the application form with the required details, uploading documents, and submitting.

To apply you have to visit the Nigeria Police Recruitment Portal at https://apply.policerecruitment.gov.ng/. Follow the simple guides below.

Section A

Guide 1: Visit https://apply.policerecruitment.gov.ng/

Using your smartphone or personal computer that is connected to the internet, open your device browser and visit the Nigeria Police Force Recruitment Portal at https://apply.policerecruitment.gov.ng/.

Guide 2: Enter your NIN

After loading the Nigeria Police Force Recruitment Portal (https://apply.policerecruitment.gov.ng/), Enter your National Identification Number (NIN) in the provided column.

Guide 3: Enter your Email Address

Enter your email address in the specified column, and make sure that the email is still accessible, that is to say, you can still log into the mail with your email address and password.

Guide 4: Enter Your Mobile Number

Enter your mobile phone number in the specified column.

Guide 5: Choose Application Position

Select the position you wish to apply for either General duty (Constable), specialist (Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police, Cadet Inspector of Police, Police Constable), or any other.

Guide 6: Click on the ‘Verify’ Button

After entering your details correctly, click on the ‘Verify’ button to confirm your details and your NIN.

Note: Before you start the application process, make sure you age range is between 18 to 25 years of age for General duty job position, and between 18 and 28 years of age for Specialsts.

If the age on your National Identity Number (NIN) is below 18 or above 25 years of age for General duty, and not between 18 and 28 years of age for specialists you will not be verified and your application will be denied.

Section B

After verification follow the instructions according to how it was displayed on the Police Recruitment Portal, it may not be exactly the same as the one below, but it’s important.

Guide 7: Click on the ‘Create an account’ button

Create an account on the recruitment portal by filling in the required details, this account serves as your profile in the portal. After filling in the details correctly, then hit on the sign-up button to continue.

Guide 8: Enter Email address and Password

Enter your valid email address and password to continue, make sure to confirm if the mail is still accessible, that is confirm if you can still log in to the mail using its mail address and password because a verification message will be sent to it in the process of registration. After entering the mail, also Resolve the captcha issue.

Guide 9: Verify Your Email address

After creating an account in the portal a message (link) will be sent to your email address, log in to your E-mail and click on the link sent by the Nigeria Police. Clicking on the link from your mail will open up the application process page. If you didn’t get the mail (check your spam box for it).

Guide 10: Enter your Email address and Password and click on the ‘login’ button

After clicking on the verification mail (link) sent to your email, it takes you again to the police portal to continue the application process, but you will have to log in with your email address and password, and then hit the ‘login’ button to continue.

Guide 11: Crosscheck the Application Form

After logging in, crosscheck to confirm you filled the form correctly.

Guide 12: Click on the ‘Submit’ button

After confirming that you filled out the form correctly, click on the ‘submit’ button to submit your application.

After submitting, and the application is successful, you will get a confirmation message by email within a couple of minutes.

Note: Make sure you print out and also make a photocopy of your confirmation slip. Also, save and copy out your “Registration Number” because the number is case-sensitive and it will be useful for future purposes.

Once your application is successful, the Nigeria Police Force will contact you through your email address and you will be scheduled for the next stage of the recruitment exercise.

Tips for a Successful Nigerian Police Force Recruitment

  • Applications are to be submitted online only via the recruitment portal https://apply.policerecruitment.gov.ng
  • No applicant is permitted to submit multiple applications
  • Do not get involved in any monetary transaction in regard to the Nigerian police recruitment form as the application form is totally free
  • If for any reason you falsify your documents and you are caught, you will be penalized.

How is Nigerian Police Force Recruitment Done?

NPF Recruitment is done in different phases, it is important any interested applicant gets an in-depth understanding of the recruitment process before he or she proceeds in applying. The recruitment process is carried out in four (4) different phases; Application, Shortlisting, Screening, and Training/Employment phases.

Nigeria Police Force Recruitment Procedures

Before any applicant qualifies to join the Nigeria Police Force he or she must pass and also qualify through these four (4) Recruitment phases or stages

Application Stage

The Application Stage is when interested applicants visit the NPF recruitment portal online at (https://apply.policerecruitment.gov.ng) to fill out the application form and also apply for the recruitment exercise.

Shortlisting Stage

This stage follows after applicants have submitted their application forms and the recruitment portal has been closed. The Nigeria Police Service Commission will review submitted applications, and names of successful candidates are shortlisted or released officially on the recruitment portal. These shortlisted applicants are thereby invited for a screening exercise.

Screening Stage

In this stage, shortlisted candidates are called upon for further screening and review of their academic credentials and other certificates. The screening is usually a Computer Based Test (CBT).

Training/Employment Stage

This is the final recruitment stage whereby successful applicants are subjected to undergo training after which they are appointed by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to their various places of duty.

The aim of expatiating on these four stages is just to inform you of what happens after the application is submitted so that you become aware of the processes ahead.

Note: Your ascension to the next stage depends on your success in the previous, so you will have to do your best in any of the stages for you to be successfully recruited.

When is the Nigeria Police Recruitment Starting for 2024?

The Nigeria Police Recruitment for this year will be starting between September and October

NPF is yet to announce the starting date for this year’s Police recruitment, but is stipulated to start between the month of September and October. During this month will be the starting date for the recruitment of constables, and specialists into the Nigerian Police Force.
