When is JAMB Registration Starting for 2024 (UTME/DE)
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) have announced Monday, January 15, 2024, as the start date for its Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) Registration. The registration will commence on Monday 15, to Monday, 26 February 2024.
Meanwhile, Direct Entry (DE) registration will commence on Wednesday, February 28 and closes on Thursday, March 28 2024.

What is JAMB UTME?
JAMB simply means Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board, While UTME is an acronym for Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination just as the name implies, JAMB UTME is a Nigeria tertiary institution entrance examination organised and conducted by JAMB for prospective Undergraduates who wants to be admitted into any of the Nigeria tertiary institutions.
The aim of the JAMB UTME EXAM is to measure candidates’ performance, abilities and determine their suitability for higher education.
JAMB also administers similar examinations for prospective undergraduate who wants to be admitted into any of the Nigerian polytechnics, and colleges of education.
JAMB Registration: How to Register for JAMB UTME/Direct Entry 2024 (Step by Step) Guide.
Below are the Complete Registration Process on How To Register For JAMB UTME/DE for the year 2024.
Step 1: Create JAMB Profile Code/Profile Registration
Getting or creating a profile code is the first step towards the registration of JAMB UTME/DE. To do that send your name with this format (Surname First-Name Middle-Name [if any]) by text (SMS) to 55019. Your name should be a maximum of 38 characters + 2 spaces between names (40) characters. Step 2: Purchase JAMB PIN
After creating your profile code, the next is to purchase JAMB PIN which will be used for the Registration. The PIN cost price is about Six to Seven Thousand Naira (N 6,000 or N 7,000) for Nigerian candidates, while international candidates are to pay $30 for the PIN procurement. Step 3. Visit JAMB CBT Centre
Visit the nearest JAMB CBT Centre with the JAMB PIN, Profile Code, and some other requirements to continue registration. See the List of JAMB Registration Requirements Here
Step 4: Input Your JAMB PIN
Present your purchased JAMB PIN to the JAMB Registration staff at any of the Approved/Accredited JAMB Registration Centres Close to you. See the List of the Nearest JAMB Approved Registration Centres in Your Area Here
Step 5: Fill in the JAMB Form
Fill in the JAMB Form with the correct details, you will be asked to give some details about your data correctly at the JAMB CBT Centre, this details will be asked from you by the JAMB registration Staff or you will be given a form to fill in the details correctly and accordingly.
Some of the details will mainly include your bio data (Date of Birth, Nationality, State of Origin, Local Government Area, Gender) e-mail address, and other relevant data).

Step 6: Choose Courses and Institutions
Enter or select the Choice of disciplines and institutions you wish to study. You will be provided with about four or more institutions to choose from in terms of first, second, third, and fourth choice. Select First choice for the institution you prefer to attend then you can fill in other institutions of interest in the other columns or spaces.
Step 7: Enter Results/Certificates Grades
Upload needed certificates (O’ Level and or A’ Level) grades and their dates if available. Meanwhile, candidates who are awaiting results should indicate A/R (Awaiting Result) but should also endeavor to upload theirs on JAMB’s portal as soon as they are available.
Direct Entry candidates are to provide their JAMB registration number for previous institutional certificates.
Note that recommendations from any Institution will not be considered by JAMB if the candidate refuses or has not uploaded his/her result on JAMB’s portal online within the speculated time.

Step 8: Present/Enter UTME Subjects
Enter the core JAMB subject combinations for the course of choice. You are to list or enter the four subjects required by JAMB for the course you intend to study. See the List of JAMB Subject Combinations Here
Step 9: Choose Exam Centre Town
Make choice of exam centre town that is close to your area. This exam centre town will likely be the area of your exam venue, so take note of the region that are close to your residence.
Step 10: Face Capture and Biometric Enrollment
A snapshot of your face will be taken and print of your fingers also for biometric and clear identity enrollment.
Step 11: Review and Confirm Entries
Cross check and confirm the details your entered are accurate and complete details.
After cross checking and confirming that the details are correctly entered, hit on the submit button and your registration will be submitted to the JAMB portal instantly. This will be done by the JAMB registration staff or personnel.
Step 13. Print and Collect the JAMB Registration Slip
After registration is done, the slip will be printed and given to the candidates right there at the JAMB CBT Centres
Step 14: Collect the Reading Text and CD
After receiving your registration print out slip you will also be given the reading text (novel) and a CD recommended by JAMB at no extra cost.
Step 15: Make Payment
After registration, collecting of registration slip and the reading text (novel), you are to pay the sum of seven hundred naira (N700) cash to the JAMB CBT Staff as service charge for the registration process.
Note: Registration is done online, candidate should register only at any JAMB’s Accredited CBT centre and JAMB State Offices. Candidates are warned not to register in cybercafe or any other online platform other than JAMB’s CBT Accredited Centre and JAMB State Offices. Any registration done outside JAMB’s approved centres will be identified and disqualified.
Requirements for JAMB UTME / Direct Entry Registration.
i. Result:
Each UTME candidate’s requirements for admission into the First Degree, are five (5) O’ Level Credit passes including English Language. While Direct Entry candidates should have either OND, ND, NCE or their equivalent certificate.
ii. National Identification Number (NIN)
NIN is one of those requirements for JAMB registration, each candidate registering for JAMB 2024 must have their National Identification Number (NIN).
If you don’t have NIN, you can go for NIN registration in any of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) Offices.
For forgotten or lost NIN, Dial *346# from the same phone number which you used for the NIN registration to retrieve your NIN
iii. Profile Registration
To register your profile or to get a profile code send your name with this format (Surname First-Name Middle-Name [if any]) by text (SMS) to 55019. Your name should be a maximum of 38 characters + 2 spaces between names (40) characters.
After sending your name with the format explained above, in less than five (5) minutes a Profile Code of Ten (10) characters will be received on the same phone number that the candidate used for profile registration.
Note: Surname and First name are mandatory
One candidate can only use one phone number. The phone number used for the text message will automatically register the candidate’s name and will be used in all communications related to his/her 2024 Application, Examination / Admission.

iv. JAMB Pin?
To purchase JAMB PIN which is for registration you have to pay the sum of Six Thousand or Seven Thousand Naira (N 6,000 or N 7,000) for the Pin and an additional seven hundred (N 700) naira at JAMB CBT Centre for the reading text or novel. What Is the Difference Between JAMB UTME and Direct Entry?
UTME helps prospective undergraduates to gain admission to higher institutions into 100 Level. To apply for UTME, candidates must have five (5) O’ Level Credit passes including English Language.
Direct Entry (DE) helps candidates to gain admission directly into 200 Level in higher institution. To apply for Jamb direct entry, you should have either your OND, ND, NCE or their equivalent certificate.
Can I Register for Both JAMB UTME and Direct Entry Same Year?
As JAMB has informed earlier candidates cannot register for both JAMB UTME and DIRECT ENTRY the same year, rather they can upgrade to Direct Entry if they’ve registered for UTME.
Below are some reasons why you can’t register for both JAMB UTME and DIRECT ENTRY same year.
- Jamb does not approve multiple registrations.
- Jamb approved only one profile for each candidate.
- Your details are attached to your Jamb profile.
- JAMB Biometric verification will capture your fingerprint as the same.
- JAMB will disqualify any candidate that registers for JAMB UTME and DIRECT ENTRY the same year.
